National Honor Society for Dance Arts Group Photo

The purpose of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts is to recognize dancers for their outstanding artistic merit, leadership and academic achievement. Members of NHSDA promote a desire for lifelong learning in the field of dance and encourage an understanding of and an appreciation for dance as an art form; and develop knowledgeable audiences for tomorrow.

Eligibility for Membership

  • Open to students in academic grades 9* through 12.  
  • Have & maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher (will be verified with school transcript)
  • Submit a minimum of 30 points for induction. See POINTS SYSTEM FORM
  • Must be actively enrolled at CBS.
*Special Note:  8th graders interested in NHSDA will be candidates for the season and may fully participate in all meetings, activities, events, and performances. 8th graders may accumulate their points within their 8th grade year within a 12 month period.

Leadership Roles AT CBS

The following leadership positions are available to members of NHSDA in good standing
President
Vice-President
Secretary
Treasurer (Faculty Assigned)
Community Outreach Committee
Social Media Committee

REQUIREMENTS

  • You will need two letters of recommendation. Please do not use a Ballet Society faculty member or a family member/relative.

DUTIES

  • Maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher (will be verified with school transcript)
  • Participate in performances for the community and for Colorado Ballet Society.
  • Show leadership and mentorship to younger dancers.
  • Demonstrate collaboration, teamwork and commitment in different aspects of dance such as choreography, performance, teaching assistance, volunteer stage crew, costume assistance, etc.
  • Attend all meetings, monthly or otherwise assigned.
  • Participate in the chapter service project.
