Colorado Youth Ballet was launched in September of 2003 in response to the high level of achievement found in the Ballet Society studios. This group of about 40 young pre-professional dancers (who study and rehearse year-round) presents classical and contemporary ballet to audiences throughout the Pikes Peak Region. For its debut performance in 2004, the Youth Ballet performed with guest artists Stella Abrera and Sascha Radetsky, soloists of American Ballet Theatre, at the Pikes Peak Center. Other Youth Ballet repertoire includes nationally renowned
La Barre,
Paquita,
Coppelia, Balanchine's
Valse Fantaisie,
Cinderella,
Nutcracker and excerpts from Swan Lake. In 2010, the company offered the world-premiere of Benjamin Britten's
A Charm of Lullabies and then performed their first full-length
Sleeping Beauty. Youth Ballet has traditionally performed to sellout audiences.
